It's based on an experimental IDE patch, so unless you need it (i.e., your drives are not detected without it) you should use bare.i. bare.i - This is the 2.2.19 kernel to use with most IDE based PCs. It supports IDE/ATAPI CD-ROM drives. bareapm.i - This 2.2.19 kernel is similar to bare.i with added Advanced Power Management support for laptops. bare245.i - A version of bare.i running Linux 2.4.5. scsi.s - Generic 2.2.19 SCSI Linux kernel, with support for most controllers. scsi245.s - A version of scsi.s running Linux 2.4.5. Other kernels on this disk might be usable if you enter the $PATH to them. IMPORTANT: If you install with a 2.4.5 kernel AND use ReiserFS, then you MUST install a compatible kernel from the A series (expert or menu mode), or from a boot floppy.
