LuxRender 1.4
=============

LuxRender is a physically based and unbiased rendering engine. Based on
state of the art algorithms, LuxRender simulates the flow of light
according to physical equations, thus producing realistic images of
photographic quality.

What's new in 1.4:
-----------------
 - Brand new application architecture -- LuxCore Renderer
   (note: still under heavy development)
 - Most LuxRender features supported with GPU acceleration under LuxCore
 - Bias Path integrator under LuxCore
 - Integrated viewport rendering in Blender under 2.x API with real-time
   scene editing support
 - Improved support for LuxCore features in LuxBlend exporter
 - Numerous improvements and fixes

What's included:
---------------
 - luxrender, luxconsole, luxmerger
LuxRender GUI and console version, FLM merging tool.

 - luxvr, slg4
   LuxVR interactive OpenCL CPU/GPU renderer.

 - luxblend
Contains luxblend.zip (exporter for Blender 2.68-2.69), and luxblend-
   presets.zip (rendering presets for LuxBlend).

For installation use "Install from File" button under Blender User
Preferences > Addons tab, then update LuxRender home directory path
   and restart Blender.

 - liblux.so, pylux.so, pyluxcore.so
LuxRender core shared library and Python binding modules for Blender
   integration.

 - examples
Two example scenes for LuxRenderer which you can try right away:
LuxTime (by freejack) and School Corridor (by B.Y.O.B.). Additional
information and source blend files are here:

   http://www.luxrender.net/forum/viewtopic.php?p=63479#p63479
Note: These example scenes aren't using GPU acceleration by default.

 - icons
Two sets of icons for LuxRender filetypes (by the courtesy of patro).
To install, copy the contents to /usr/share/icons and assign them to
lxs, lxo, lxm, lxv and flm filetypes. Additional icon sets can be
   found at http://www.luxrender.net/forum/viewtopic.php?f=26&t=5086

Notes:
-----
 - If you get "Illegal instruction" error when starting the program,
make sure your CPU supports SSE2 instruction set.
 - If you encounter garbled output in LuxRender GUI (distorted window),
   see this post:
   http://www.luxrender.net/forum/viewtopic.php?p=98385#p98385
 - For OpenCL builds: If the program won't start because of libOpenCL
missing, make sure you have AMD GPU drivers, latest nVidia drivers
   or Intel OpenCL drivers installed.
 - For OpenCL builds: In case of "/usr/lib/nvidia-current/libOpenCL.so:
no version information available (required by ./luxrender)" warning,
you can ignore it -- everything should work correctly nevertheless.
 - In case of trouble installing LuxBlend make sure you're using
compatible Blender version. Note: LuxBlend for Blender 2.49b is not
   supported.
