This is the latest release of the GNU compiler utilties for
Linux.  It's here in /contrib instead of the D series because
it has trouble with some of the assembly in the kernel.  For
compiling the kernel, it's recommended to stick with the supplied
version of binutils unless you're sure you know what you're
doing.
