THE SLACKWARE INTERNATIONALIZATION PROJECT ========================================== Hi there, I wish that all users can install and use Slackware Linux in their native language in the future. I believe that could help expand Slackware's user base, as do the Slackware Documentation Project which already provides documentation in 14 languages. The decision to do so lies with the maintainer, Mr Patrick J. Volkerding. I anticipate that it will take time and efforts to convince him, as he certainly won't accept to put at risk Slackware's well deserved reputation of stability, quality, reliability, usability, versatility,... (add any relevant -ility here :-). The feasibility certainly matters as well, not only of localizing Slackware initially but moreover of maintaining the level of quality users expect over time, with limited resources. Until Slackware be genuinely internationalized, the Slint project will provide all that's needed to internationalize a genuine Slackware system: - replacing the genuine Slackware installer by an internationalized one - providing packages that install internationalized administration tools intended for Slackware and/or localized manual pages - providing some extra packages for translation or localization All specific material needed to provide slint products is included in this archive. The slint project couldn't live without its translators, huge thanks to them.
