This directory contains information found in various files in the emacspeak source archive. There are all also available in subdirectories of /usr/share/emacs/site-lisp/emacspeak The subdirectory html/ contains information in HTML format that you can read with a web browser The subdirectory texi/ contains information files in TEX format. In addition following info pages are installed in /usr/info: emacspeak introducing-emacspeak turning-twenty You can access following information directly from emacs: The NEWS file gives a summary of new features — Control e cap N in Emacs See Emacspeak Customizations for customizations — Control e cap C in Emacs Read the Emacspeak Manual — Control e TAB in Emacs Last but not least: to use emacspeak, add this line at the top your .emacs file: (load-file "/usr/share/emacs/site-lisp/emacspeak/lisp/emacspeak-setup.el") Then emacspeak should start to speak as soon as you type emacs, provided that espeak be installed. emacspeak works only in text mode, not in graphical mode.
